When I was in 2nd grade, my parents “dropped out of society”. They traded our middle class life for an Airstream travel trailer and 3 acres by the river in the woods. My parents did not want to “raise us in front of a tv”, so we read books, raised animals and built sword fern teepees for entertainment. I learned early on to use my creativity to navigate my way through life and somewhere along the way realized that for me, life is about simplicity, laughter and surrounding myself with creative people.
I continue to be inspired by nature, often taking my large panels outside to paint the colors of life. I paint to music because it allows me to get out of my head and just paint what I am feeling. I can get lost in the paint and the music and often feel like I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster by the time I complete a painting.
