Cammy Davis is an Abstract Expressionist artist whose work has been featured at fine art galleries throughout the Northwest, and has been published in books—Ashland, Oregon and Ashland, Oregon Day Trips—and periodicals—EATT Magazine, Luxe Beat Magazine and Southern Oregon Magazine. Cammy is also an active member of the arts community of Southern Oregon and is a founding member of the Arts Alliance of Southern Oregon.
Cammy’s work is influenced by her roots in the outdoors, growing up in an Airstream near a river surrounded by the woods. As a child, Cammy spent her time making sword fern teepees, and treehouses from material of the land. The lifestyle was simple and creative: if Cammy wanted something, she found a way to make it.
This translated to her art in later years, both in her contrasting use of natural and industrial materials, and her characteristic independence. Cammy constructs her work from scratch. She combines the hands of an artist who builds her own panels, and creates her own textures, with the mind of one who conducts her own research, attempts her own experiments, and takes her own risks. To Cammy, the creative process is based on a willingness to experiment and always be learning.
Cammy studied Fine Art at the University of Idaho for two years, raised a family and then went back to complete her degree in Interior Design at Bellevue College in Washington.
In addition to her work as a painter, and director of numerous local art festivals, Cammy has produced art tutorial and music-art videos for her YouTube channel.

Cammy's Artist Statement
I paint from a place of strong emotion and consideration of the fragility and beauty of life. I paint the highs and lows. Life might feel giggly, joyful and warm; while as other times it may be empty, lonely and dark. I emphasize the vulnerable moments that I experience, reaching always for the sunshine.
I paint on wood panels, often with sheet metal. I like the industrial element interposed between the panel and paint, either as a layer for depth or an inclusion that changes with the light patterns throughout the day. Visually I am drawn to a blend of structure and chaos in my pieces; often using grids or lines to create the organization that appeals to my eye, and then painting with the looseness of my feelings.
A vital part of my creative process is music, since I always paint to music. I choose a song centered around where I am at emotionally and then I paint the entire piece to the same song. I am deeply touched by the creative energy of working with a musician in the moment. I have found live music to be more profound and stronger than that of recorded songs. Painting with a musician brings the passion and creative energy to a new level that I translate into my art.
