I love this piece because of it’s evolution. It started during an angry, confused time. Words and blood and flowers trying to grow out of that confusion. Recently I found myself hating the painting. I guess once the growth actually happened, rather than me pushing it, I just moved past it.
So days ago, I started painting colors over the words. This often happens when I’m painting, I don’t know what I’m painting or even feeling until I’m done. I kept the words peeking out, but you have to look really close to see them and they are indecipherable. “Listen” just came to me as I was looking at it. The words were perfect covered up, subtly, in the background, in the past. Sometimes I just need to listen rather than asking questions and trying to analyze everything. Sometimes just being quiet, watching and listening brings me the answers.
Piece is 10-1/2” x 11-3/4” and is acrylic and mixed media on panel.
